KernelEx v4.5 RC 4 released
This new release is supposed to cure critical issues present in two previous release candidate releases as well as improve compatibility with Mozilla Firefox and Opera browsers.
What’s new:
- Fixed: missing background colors and images in Mozilla Firefox 3.6.9/3.6.10
- Fixed: MSIMG32 warning and menu icon transparency issues in Opera 10.62
- Fixed: crashes introduced in RC 3
- KernelEx auxiliary libraries weren’t loaded when full path to system file was passed in call to LoadLibary
THANK A LOT
KernelEx is a great help to move the Internet with old Win98
Your work is truly amazing, man!
I´m stucked with 98 and only KernelEx makes my life bearable.
Keep improving it!
WoW! I’ve never thought, someone’d even try. Well, when I use my emulator, I know what to check out.
Btw: You should try adding a BugTracker and a compatibility DB.

Kernelex 4.5RC4
working – Mozilla Firefox 3.5.13
working – Mozilla Firefox 3.6.10 – except Java
working – Adobe Flash 10.1.85.3 for IE6
working – Adobe Flash 10.1.85.3 for FF 3.5.13 and 3.6.10
working – Java 6 update 21 – for IE6 and FF 3.5.13
For Java to work with FF 3.5.13,
1) delete jre\bin\new_plugin directory
2) disable_new_plugin in Java CPL panel
It’s definately more stable. A few existing problems are still present:
IE6+Flash player lockups
Firefox graphics corruption
no Java with 3.6.x
Google Maps corrupts the forward, back, refresh stop, home buttons in Firefox. It also turns all my systray icons black. When it happens, all screen image redraws happen extremely slowly. If you open up IE6 and go to Google Maps after corrupting Firefox with Google Maps, then the FF buttons magically fix themselves, but only while IE6 is open. This affects other Kernelex 4.5 versions and Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x versions. I do not use Revolutions Pack. Video driver is unofficial nVidia 82.69. GDI.exe is 4.10.2227. DIBENG.dll is 4.10.1998.
Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 6 starts but then switches to an unsupported video mode. This may be an extra mode or refresh rate in my registry.
Software wishlist:
Java support for FF 3.6.x series
Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 series
AVG Free
Avast! Free
Avira AntiVir Free
CPU-Z
Keep IE6 alive:
